MEMBERS OF SAINT CLARE'S MEDICAL STAFF ELECTED TO SAINT CLARE'S FOUNDATION BOARD

Dr. Francis T. Deane of Montville and Dr. Norman B. SanAgustin of Mendham have been elected to the board of trustees of Saint Clare’s Foundation, the fundraising arm of Saint Clare’s Health System. Both were elected at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting on September 23.

"Our medical staff is an integral part of the Saint Clare’s community, working with us to ensure that our patients receive the highest levels of care,” said Joseph Vitale, chief executive officer of Saint Clare’s Foundation. “Both Dr. Deane and Dr. SanAgustin are valued members of our medical staff, bringing years of experience in their disciplines and a record of civic and community service. We are honored to have them on the board, and look forward to working with both for the benefit of our community.”

Dr. Deane, a graduate of Dartmouth College, is a board-certified otolaryngologist and a board-certified head and neck surgeon. He serves as executive director/Surgical Services at Saint Clare’s. Dr. Deane received his medical degree from Albany Medical College, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his surgical residency at the Sacramento Medical Center, part of the University of California-Davis, and his ear, nose and throat residency at Albany Medical Center. During active duty in the Army in the late 1970s, Dr. Deane was posted at the Paterson Army Hospital in Fort Monmouth. He maintains a private practice in Dover, N.J. and is an active medical leader in the local, regional, and state area.

Dr. San Agustin, a renowned breast surgeon, is the Medical Director of Saint Clare’s comprehensive oncology program. He received both a bachelor’s degree in pre-med and his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. Dr. San Agustin completed several surgical residencies in both the Philippines and the United States. His surgical residency training included time at the University of Santo Tomas (Philippines), Jersey Shore Medical Center (N.J.), Long Island Jewish Hospital (N.Y.), Norwalk Hospital (Conn.), and Morristown Memorial Hospital (N.J.). He is the recipient of a number of medical awards and has been a guest lecturer at medical conferences.

Dr. San Agustin also established the Nikki Foundation which helps children in his native Philippines. The Foundation is named in memory of his 12 year-old daughter, who died from injuries sustained in a tragic skiing accident in 1988. He is also a crusader for the mandatory use of helmets by young skiers.

Saint Clare’s Health System, which has served the healthcare needs of northwestern New Jersey residents since 1895, is the region’s premier provider of community-based healthcare and behavioral health services. Saint Clare’s operates hospitals in Boonton Township, Denville, Dover and Sussex Borough and other facilities located throughout Morris and Sussex counties.
