MEMBERS OF SAINT CLARE'S MEDICAL STAFF
ELECTED TO SAINT CLARE'S FOUNDATION BOARD
Dr. Francis T. Deane of Montville and Dr. Norman B. SanAgustin of
Mendham have been elected to the board of trustees of Saint Clare’s
Foundation, the fundraising arm of Saint Clare’s Health System.
Both were elected at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting on September
23.
"Our medical staff is an integral part of the Saint Clare’s
community, working with us to ensure that our patients receive the
highest levels of care,” said Joseph Vitale, chief executive
officer of Saint Clare’s Foundation. “Both Dr. Deane
and Dr. SanAgustin are valued members of our medical staff, bringing
years of experience in their disciplines and a record of civic and
community service. We are honored to have them on the board, and
look forward to working with both for the benefit of our community.”
Dr. Deane, a graduate of Dartmouth College, is a board-certified
otolaryngologist and a board-certified head and neck surgeon. He
serves as executive director/Surgical Services at Saint Clare’s.
Dr. Deane received his medical degree from Albany Medical College,
where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He
completed his surgical residency at the Sacramento Medical Center,
part of the University of California-Davis, and his ear, nose and
throat residency at Albany Medical Center. During active duty in
the Army in the late 1970s, Dr. Deane was posted at the Paterson
Army Hospital in Fort Monmouth. He maintains a private practice in
Dover, N.J. and is an active medical leader in the local, regional,
and state area.
Dr. San Agustin, a renowned breast surgeon, is the Medical Director
of Saint Clare’s comprehensive oncology program. He received
both a bachelor’s degree in pre-med and his medical degree
from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. Dr. San
Agustin completed several surgical residencies in both the Philippines
and the United States. His surgical residency training included time
at the University of Santo Tomas (Philippines), Jersey Shore Medical
Center (N.J.), Long Island Jewish Hospital (N.Y.), Norwalk Hospital
(Conn.), and Morristown Memorial Hospital (N.J.). He is the recipient
of a number of medical awards and has been a guest lecturer at medical
conferences.
Dr. San Agustin also established the Nikki Foundation which helps
children in his native Philippines. The Foundation is named in memory
of his 12 year-old daughter, who died from injuries sustained in
a tragic skiing accident in 1988. He is also a crusader for the mandatory
use of helmets by young skiers.
Saint Clare’s Health System, which has served the healthcare
needs of northwestern New Jersey residents since 1895, is the region’s
premier provider of community-based healthcare and behavioral health
services. Saint Clare’s operates hospitals in Boonton Township,
Denville, Dover and Sussex Borough and other facilities located throughout
Morris and Sussex counties.
